Episode 4

Hey everybody, it’s ya boi Fern and today I’ve got a couple of coincidence stories for ya. The first is from Grace.

Grace says, In Eighth Grade I met this girl named Lauren and I found out she lived in the neighborhood connected to mine, so not more than a mile away from my house. One day I went over to her house and we were hanging out in her room when one of her older sisters came in, she was wearing a Denver shirt and I mentioned that my dad went there too. She said she goes there and her dad went there as well. We asked her dad what year he graduated and he in return asked when my dad did. I didn't know so I called my dad but no answer. Later he called me back and i asked what year he graduated and which Fraternity he was in. He was really confused on why I was asking so I caught him up with the story. My dad told me that he would come pick me up after work to meet my friends dad to see if they knew each other. I found Lauren’s dad and told him the deal and he was excited to meet my dad. When my dad arrived to pick me up he and Lauren’s dad didn't initially recognize each other, but from around the corner Lauren’s mom walked out. Immediately my dad said "oh hey Karen!" Turns out both Lauren’s parents went to Denver After her dad told mine to imagine him with hair and after he saw Karen my dad's memory clicked, he remembered both of them. My dad and Lauren’s were both in frats, and their fraternity houses were right next to each other on campus. My dad and Lauren's were neighbors at one point! It's crazy that two guys who went to the same college, moved to connecting neighborhoods, lived a mile away from each other for YEARS and found each other when their youngest daughters became friends.

Grace also sent in another coincidence:

I just recently transferred to Virginia Tech and one day I went to a day drink with a few of my friends. I was sitting down with them and a few guys from the group that was hosting the party. I met this kid named Nick and we talked for a bit. I went to another one of their parties and saw Nick again, talked a little bit and got along. About two weeks ago I went up to New Jersey for my cousin's graduation party. There I hung out with a bunch of my cousin's friends. I was talking to one guy Frank and when I mentioned I go to VT, he immediately got excited and told me his nephew goes there and he was about to be a sophomore. I asked how his nephew liked it and he told me he is loving it especially because he joined a club. What club you ask? The same one that threw the day drinks I went to. I thought that was super funny and told Frank that I've been there a few times, and asked for his nephews name, and he told me that his name was Nick. I looked Noah up on instagram and turns out it's the same Noah I met at the parties. Frank thought this was hilarious and decided to call Noah right then and there, but no answer. Later Nick called back and Frank asked if he knew a girl named Grace and Nick said he did and asked why. Frank responded so excitedly saying he was hanging out with me right now, and Nick told him that he says hi and the call ended. Such a small world that one of my family's best friends' nephews goes to Virginia Tech and that I met him a few times.

Our next story is from Meaghan. Meaghan says, When I was touring apartments with my roommate spring of senior year of college, we look at the building we ended up signing a lease at in Courthouse in Arlington. The apartment we toured was GORGEOUS, new hardwood floors and a balcony overlooking the pool (I don't remember the unit's actual number, but for the sake of the story let's say it's 711). My roommate and I toured several months before we actually moved in, so we figured the unit wouldn't be available when it was time for us to sign a lease, but I still checked the apartment's website every day to see if there's a chance 711 was still available. Unfortunately, around mid-June the apartment ended up disappearing from the website, indicating it was rented out to some other lucky roommate pair. Fast forward two months I'm at a party at my friend Paul's apartment. He's a military brat so he's lived all over the country and world, so he has friends from everywhere. One of his friends, Rachel, was talking about the apartment building she lived in, also in Courthouse. I asked her which one and she said the name of the building I lived in. We briefly had a conversation about how much we loved the building, location, etc. I asked her what floor she lived on. She said the seventh floor. I told her how the unit my roommate and I toured on that floor we fell in love with, and described the floors and the balcony etc. She asked me if I toured unit 711, and I was like wait... yes. Not only did she live in my building, but It turns out she lived in the apartment I LOVED!

And that's it. Little bit of a shorter episode, I'm trying to get more stories from family and friends, keep sending them in, text me, DM me, onesmallworldpodcast@gmail.com. We've got a website, check it out. And please send me your stooorieeeeeees. Ok, bye.
